Although I never rant on Facebook I have to make an exception would it is hard to enjoy your travels when most places you turn you see people exploiting animals for their own enjoyment. Baby monkeys do not need you to hold them and feed them for five minutes, they need to be with their mothers and family groups. Elephants do not need to be chained up and kept separate from their group, they need them for socialization and development. And tigers do not need to be sedated so you can have a photo opt with them for a cool Facebook photo. I like to think that most people travel in order to learn, widen their horizons and have the world leave a positive impact on them. So do it a favour and leave a positive impact on it in return, do your research before taking part in any animal tourism and ask yourself, is this natural? Is it necessary? Or is this just here for making a dollar? Is this something you really want to support? If you have to come up with excuses and reasoning to make yourself confident in your decision, then it probably isnt the right one.
