Although Im the Mom of two amazing young boys...this does not prevent me as a Mom from wanting to protect or encourage the enrichment, development and confidence of young girls, who I was once their own age. Exhibit A your honor :) Random conversation with a mother of a young girl. Ill change the names to protect the innocent :) Lets call Mom A) Bad Santa Please note: the acronym BS is purely coincidental here :) lol So said mom tells another fine lady...Mom B) who well call Cool Mom...ok, so thats me...but hey, its my story :) Anyways, Bad Santa says to Cool Mom... my daughter said one day she would love to travel all around Europe and see the world. Cool Moms reply that would be amazing! What an incredible experience and adventure for her!! Bad Santa, insert sad face, replies yeah, but I told her shell need to marry a really rich guy for that! Insert wicked laugh and eye rolling by BS huh?!!! Cool mom thinks to herself...did you hear that? Thats the sound of the womens rights movement taking about a million steps backward. Moms...granted there is nothing more amazing than finding the love and support of a wonderful husband but please...tell your baby girl she can in fact do it all on her own! and if she should in fact share in that experience with the love of her life...all the more enriching! But please, encourage your daughter to make her own way...be her own person...and then if she should meet the man of her dreams...then that relationship and experience will be all the better! I sure as heck want my boys to love someone who is their own person and wants to enjoy those experiences as a team and not as a dependent. So I guess what Im trying to say is girls rule! But only if you give them the confidence and the tools to do so! Cool mom signin off :) lol
