Although, it is nice to know that the Federal Government is not ultimately in charge of the education process, the local school boards have the most authority on revising several materials to suit their needs in hopes of reaching the general goal of common core. However, it does not stop people from wanting to go homeschoolling to teach children their own subjects at a flexible rate. Here in the United States, there is a Federal law that FORBIDS federal government from forcing the states or locals to adopt to national standards when recieveing funds law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/20/7907 However, State and local school boards can VOLUNTARILY implement elements of national education curriculum. Make sure you read the neutral position first before you go to more extreme positions. However, I can understand the potential fears of common core because there are local and state curriculum that would want to devise methods to achieve higher test scores that does not involve enriching interaction with or promoting more creativity on the students.
