Although old news, I learned today from a friend that white vinegar is often started not by a true mother (bacterial culture) but by a petroleum product, rendering cheap white vinegar not as green as it seems. White vinegar is just too good a household product to do without, and there is no good reason it should begin with a petroleum product! Heres basic instructions to make your own. Grab a mother from a friend who makes vinegar or from a bottle of raw vinegar like Braggs.
