Although the French terrorist event has provided some cover to Mitch McConnell, he stuck his neck out of his shell this week. He announced some thoughts about the improving economy. Talking heads, economists, and some comedians, including Jon Stewart, have been offering harsh judgments, and amused reactions, to his remarks. For the past six years, McConnell has blamed Obama for trashing the economy, preventing robust job growth, and harming small business operations. Favorable economic indicators, especially in 2014, have made this sort of Obama bashing hard to maintain. So, guess what. Mitch has suddenly noticed the economy is looking pretty good in some key measurements, and he thinks the GOP is responsible for the improvement. Very often, Republicans are so ridiculous that it’s amusing. As Robert Reich says, it’s the rooster syndrome. The rooster thinks his crowing is the cause of the sun rising.
