Although we welcome inquiries about my work, there have been a rash of calls lately that have been a pretty transparent attempt to just know my schedule of whether Im busy or not. I dont mind letting fellow practitoners know that this has been a challenging winter. Ive had a mix of busy and slow days. Im doing ok and getting by, but this weather has been hard for my older clients getting out and many out of town people have had to re-schedule. Im noticing about 20% less business on average since mid December but its getting back to normal. This has nothing to do with competition, it has to do with weather, economy and other factors. As I said Im getting by. I dont have a big lifestyle and I keep my costs low so I can work with a good cross section of people. I also keep my appointment times firm and sometimes book consecutively as a way of keeping my prices reasonable. No shows (they dont happen much, but occaisonally) are a detriment to the business. I understand when people have to re-schedule, it helps a LOT though when I can have a little notice tto get others in. This is a big part of why we require a phone number with the booking. I have had some questionable instances of people trying to book by email alone lately. I cannot very well tie up my schedule for someone with an email address of wxyz1234@gmail. On another level the slightly different pace has been a mixed blessing, allowing me quality time with my mom and other things. Ive been going to the gym, meditating more and studying and some little indulgences like the series Call the Midwife that I discovered on Netflix.
