Always near Scripture The Lord says, “If someone trusts me, I will save them. I will protect my followers who call to me for help. - Psalm 91:14 (ERV) Meditation American sociologist, pastor, and author Dr. Tony Campolo tells of the time his mother arranged for a teenage girl to walk home with him after school, paying her a nickel a day to keep an eye on him in the crowded and potentially dangerous city. In second grade, Tony says he rebelled against the idea, telling his mom to pay him five cents a week and he’d be extra careful. Years later, Tony was bragging to friends about his early independence, and his mother overheard him. “Did you really think you were alone?” she said. “Every morning when you left for school, I was with you. I walked behind you all the way. When you got out of school at 3:30 in the afternoon, I was there. I always kept myself hidden, but I was there and followed you all the way home. I just wanted to be there in case you needed me.” God is just like that for you, always near and ever ready to protect you. He’s not in hiding, though. He reveals Himself to you through His Word, when you worship Him, and as you pray to Him. Trust the Lord with your life, and then let others know how He can save them. God has shown you His faithful love. Be ready to show it to others without hesitation. Each person matters, and the difference you can make for them is eternal. Prayer God, I revel in the fact that You are with me, watchfully guarding me from harm and helping me in trial. I praise You! Help me to declare Your great love to others. Amen.
