Am I the only one who finds the medical establishment - TopicsExpress

Am I the only one who finds the medical establishment presumptuous? I have been living my life as I am for over 15 years. People I interact with all the time, who know Im trans (and I am completely out about it) forget that I am unless I say something that jars their perception. I transitioned a long time ago, paying for my T out of pocket because I never could afford insurance. I never had any surgeries, because the costs were just too prohibitive. For the first time since Ive had insurance, I find out that gender affirming procedures are covered. The catch is, I have to have a letter for the insurance company from a therapist. I have not been in therapy for gender issues in over 10 years, closer to 13 or 14. I contact the U of M gender program because the university accepts my insurance, hoping to get maybe an evaluation so I can get a letter to be told that they follow wpath guidelines and that I have to have a letter from my therapist for surgery. I HAVENT HAD A GENDER THERAPIST FOR OVER 10 YEARS, I live as a man which I have been doing for over 15 years youre gonna presume to tell me I have to have a letter from a therapist to even consult for surgery?
