Okay people…here we go…let’s keep moving because we have a lot of ground to cover. I haven’t been sleeping, so I was up at one, then again at five. Just as well, because I forgot to set the alarm. That could have been embarrassing. I’ve been trying various method of getting some sleep. I guess I can scratch vodka and the green pills from the evidence locker off the list. Dragged myself out of bed, all the way to the kitchen – ten feet! – and filled the kettle, plugged it in and turned it on. Shower, teeth, etc and then I made tea in my travel mug. Are you impressed? You should be. Hair, dressed, made myself some toast with cinnamon cream cheese, wrapped it in a paper towel and made it out of the apartment on time for the first time in three weeks. Almost made it to the car before the Granny Brigade ambushed me and demanded updates. Updated and ran to the car…made it over the railroad tracks just as the lights started flashing! Yay me! Careened off down the highway, narrowly missed spilling my tea and almost lost my toast but I persevered and made up some time by slamming down my blue patent leather loafer on that poor abused gas pedal. Hit the lobby just in time to see the Office Quarterback attack someone else for a change. Got attitude for asking to see a stranger’s security pass. Well excuuuusssseeee me, lady. I sort of recognize your name - aren’t you the one who sends out those emails about not letting people in the elevator if you don’t know them and can’t see their ID? Yeah, I’m lookin’ at you, blondie. Annnnd I make it to my desk with only one other interruption. So far so good. Work work work…sort sort sort….pay pay pay…shared a few laughs with Sheena, refrained from shanking that woman in the lunchroom that I am pretty sure steals my diet soda, more work and lunchtime! Sheena and I hit the bank, then off to some discount store near ICBC in the second worst neighbourhood in Abbotsford. Briefly consider that Sheena is trying to get me killed, because yesterday I nearly abandoned her at the Dollar Store because I forgot she was with me. Still, it was worth the risk…I got a new hairbrush and a ceramic curling iron for less than ten bucks. Really. New stuff, still in the package. Brand names and everything. Off to the sandwich shop…sausage roll and chocolate cherry cake for lunch, totally old school bakery and I just remembered I brought something home which I need to eat for breakfast. Okay…more work, more laughs, a few strange voices, some texts…talked to Mark’s nurse of the day, worked some more and it’s time to go home…clean up and off to Finnegan’s to hang with the girls. Nice dinner with Liliane, Jaynne, Christine and Laurel. Suzanne is on vacation so she didn’t get to come along – next time, Suz. Okay…I only had one drink and drove home in a driving rainstorm. Stopped at Mom and Dads…stayed just long enough for the conversation to start from the beginning again and home to sort laundry…ten minute hunt for the mysteriously disappeared laundry paraphernalia, can’t find the laundry basket, back to the car for forgotten items and finally the laundry is on…and almost finished…had to start the dryer a second time because I have to pack to leave in the morning and I can’t pack damp clothes. Tonight’s sleep aid is tequila and some muscle relaxants I found in a bottle on my elderly neighbour’s scooter. That’s what you get for parking next to me, Sauerkraut.
