Am always troubled when I see a young child with learning - TopicsExpress

Am always troubled when I see a young child with learning disabilities (LD). Sigh. Poor parents must be so distraught and helpless, especially if the child was the first-born. Saw one today, crying incessantly and was even scratched by the child, more likely its his reaction to fear and unfamiliar faces. I am thankful for what we have achieved with my kids, and I remember the trials and emotional roller-coasters we have faced bringing them up. The schools have been helpful all the way and very supportive. However, not many parents are that lucky. Some have had their marriages fail because of it, others are really driven to the wall, emotionally and financially, when they face up to the problems with bringing up a child with some form of LD, especially the more serious ones, those who cannot look after themselves for activities of daily living (ADL). Frankly, sometimes, all the parents need is a listening ear, a helping hand, and a kind heart to empathize with what they are going through.
