Am having breakfast in securities commission canteen on the way to my office. My wife is a member of the library here and the canteen is nice and cheap. Am spending some quality with the missus. On the way here I was listening to BFM (my fav station) and a tax consultant from Deloitte was talking about the GST and being generally positive that GST is a fairer tax. With all respect to her, her views are not neutral. Tax agents will be cheerleading GST all the way because there are 500,000 registered companies with IRB. These companies will have to spend up to RM 2 billion in fees to accounting and tax firms to implement GST. My one advice to BFM is this: if you want balanced views talk to economists not accountants and tax agents that will make a killing with GST.
