Amateur designer breathes new life into Hanfu The works of an amateur designer from the city of Changsha have brought the traditional Hanfu back in vogue. Long, as she is known, fell in love with the traditional Han Chinese attire after she saw it in a commercial. Such was the attraction that she invested around 20000 yuan to set up a Hanfu workshop in 2013. Over time, Long went through a range of ancient Chinese books to identify traditional patterns. She then decided to embellish them with more modern designs. Flora-prints were added. She also reconsidered the colors to make it more suitable for daily wearing. When asked about her fascination with the Hanfu, she explained that she hopes that her work can bring the ancient attire back into prominence as a fashion statement and generate awareness about Chinese culture.
