Amazing Photos Of The Middle East From 1850 Taken By French Traveler When you think of the Middle East, the first thought might be of a war torn zone or conflict of some kind. While this might be the case from some locations, it is not accurate if you think of the 19th century. Félix Bonfils, was a French photographer and writer who was active in the Middle East and traveled there between the years of 1850 and 1890 taking amazing pictures from places such as Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, Egypt, Syria and Constantinople (now Istanbul) successfully documenting many moments of real life in that time.
