Amazon Watch 9th Annual Luncheon We will broadcast our signature event LIVE WED OCT 8th at NOON PDT. Join this special event and help us reach our goal to raise $150,000 to support the critical work to protect the Amazon rainforest and support indigenous rights. This year Patricia Gualinga joins us as our honored guest. She is an inspiring indigenous leader from the Kichwa community of Sarayaku in the very heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Her leadership was instrumental in Sarayakus victory for for indigenous rights at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Patricia is an official delegate to Climate Week in New York this month, bringing the message that we must Keep the Oil in the Ground in the Amazon. We will also raise a special toast to our Founder, Atossa Soltani, in honor of her 18 years of service as Amazon Watchs Executive Director. Atossa will transition from Executive Director to President of the Board in January 2015 and we invite you to join us in recognition of her work and dedication to the Amazon as we begin the search for a new Executive Director. And we will learn of our efforts in Peru, Ecuador, Brazil & Colombia to continue protecting the Amazon and supporting the rights of indigenous peoples.
