Ambassador Andrew Jacobs, Head of the European Union Delegation for the Pacific spoke on the Future of European Union and Pacific Relations at the University of the South Pacific in Suva today. Ambassador Jacobs was invited by the USPs Faculty of Business and Economics of the School of Government, Development and International Affairs. He highlighted the European Unions strategic partnership with the Pacific region through joint efforts to address climate change, global security and fisheries issues. The Pacific region is very important to the European Union and we would like to further enhance our relations with the region. There is more that can be done to bring Pacific countries closer together as a more cohesive unit through regional integration, Ambassador Jacobs said. The USP is an excellent example of a success story in regional integration in the Pacific, he said.
