AmeriCorps Home Visitor position at our Valley Hi Family Resource Center: We are looking for people who are interested in serving AmeriCorps terms in conjunction with the Blue Ribbon Commission to reach out to the African American community to provide home visitation, outreach services, and support in working together to reduce the number of child deaths. POSITION: Special Emphasis Home Visitor Please note: These openings are located at our Valley Hi Family Resource Center on Franklin Blvd. SALARY: AmeriCorps Living Wage of $18,700 for the 1st Term and $19,550 for the 2nd Term. OVERVIEW: The below positions are non-Sacramento Children’s Home positions; they are positions within the Sacramento Children’s Home Family Resource Centers serving as AmeriCorps members. After successfully completing 12 months of service, AmeriCorps members are eligible for an additional educational award of up to $5,550 that can be used for tuition, student loans, books, etc. Home Visitors work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide home and community-based support services to African American families identified at risk for child abuse and neglect. They serve with a team, under the direction of the Team Leader, to develop and implement an appropriate individual support plan for each participant in order to meet his/her needs and provide home visitation services to 15 families who have children aged 0-5. QUALIFICATIONS: •AA or BA Degree in a Social Science is highly desired. •One year prior experience working in social services, in-home and community settings with overburdened families is preferred. •Has specific knowledge and/or experience engaging the African-American community, specifically hard to reach individuals.
