American Sports Medicine Institute recent recommendations to reduce arm injuries: 1) Learn correct throwing mechanics as early as possible in players development. 2) Coaches/parents learn the signs of arm fatigue (loss of velocity, loss of command, drop in arm slot, loss of lower body drive) 3) Take 4-6 weeks off from throwing in the offseason, typically Thanksgiving to New Years. 4) Avoid having pitcher also play catcher on the team...increased amount of throws, different arm actions. 5) Do not always throw at maximum effort. Playing catch at a reduced effort, more often, will build arm strength. 6) Improve level of fitness. Throwing is a total body movement, not just the arm. Strengthen the whole body. Our facility is committed to helping all players avoid arm injury through proper instruction, video analysis, throwing programs, and total body conditioning sessions for safe and effective player development. #SWFL
