American Theater Dance Workshop ALUMNI UPDATE - Melissa Rapelje Melissa Rapelje is a proud alumna of American Theater Dance Workshop! Melissa was a member of the ATDW Repertoire Company and studied Ballet, Theater Dance, Musical Theatre, and Tap. After training at ATDW, Melissa attended New York University graduating with a BM in Vocal Performance/ Music Theatre. While attending college, she landed her first professional gig in the Off-Broadway show The Awesome ‘80s Prom. After graduation, Melissa has been busy pursuing her career as a performer, as well as teaching artist, choreographer, and director! This summer, Melissa will be playing one of her dream roles as Tiger Lily in Peter Pan the Musical! Favorite performance credits include the First National Tour of Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries, where she portrayed the iconic red-headed cartoon character- Daphne Blake, The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns (Cindy Lou), NY Premier of The Fix (Tina McCoy), Guys & Dolls (Hot Box Girl/ Havana Dancer), You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Lucy), Oklahoma! (Ft. Dance Ensemble), Smile (Valerie), Sweet Smell of Success (Dance Captain), and Most Likely To... at the MITF. Melissa has performed in various concerts in NYC including If It Only Even Runs A Minute 10 at Le Poissone Rouge, The Joe Iconis Christmas Spectacular at Ars Nova, The Niko Tsakalakos Songbook at Birdland, NYTB in the D-Lounge, and BMI Workshops. She recently recorded a demo for the new musical FRIDA, recorded vocals for the hit web short “Russian Broadway Shutdown,” and worked on the Boxing Lab Workshop for the current Broadway show ROCKY: The Musical. In addition to performing, Melissa has developed a passion for choreographing and instruction. This year, Melissa choreographed Once on this Island at NYU and The Boy Friend at a High School on Long Island. Other favorite credits include The Little Mermaid Jr. at SPAC (Director/Choreographer), Children of Eden at NYU (Choreographer), and various dance & musical theatre classes across Long Island and NYC! Melissa will always remember and thank ATDW for all of the love, motivation, and incredible training. They have undoubtedly helped her become the professional artist that she is today!
