Americans love guns the same way Mongolians love archery. Guns are - TopicsExpress

Americans love guns the same way Mongolians love archery. Guns are a part of American culture, especially in the Western half of the country. One of the reasons why guns are such a part of American culture is because guns played such a major role in Americans gaining independence from Britain. If it werent for guns, Americans would still be British. The Founding Fathers who wrote the United States Constitution wanted the American people to be armed to insure a dictatorship would never come to power, thus they wrote the Second Amendment of the Constitution which reads the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Guns played a major role in the Westward expansion of the United States. Both Americans of European descent, as well as the indigenous Native Americans, used guns to defend their families and to hunt for food. The topic of guns in America is a very political one. Some Americans want the government to ban guns, but the overwhelming majority of Americans want to keep their guns. Gun violence is often exaggerated by the news media. In reality, America is a very safe place to visit. The overwhelming majority of Americans who own guns are law-abiding people. Criminals are prohibited by law from owning guns. Statistically, more Americans die every year from smoking smoking cigarette than from gun violence. *Lol*
