I hereby humbly encompass only a single line of your article without any debate over the rest of your elegantly structured commentary. Your mention of the Da Vinci Code prompted a bit of wince though. There is absolutely no problem to that effect. But then, if you had talked about Opus Dei, Sangreal, Priory of Sion, Dead Sea scrolls, Nag Hammadi, Catholic Church/Vatican Secrets, search of Holy Grail, Madonna of the Rocks or Companion of the Savior, it would’ve been fine. Merovingian bloodline would’ve been the best, if I may add. Historic authenticity of the aforesaid element does exist. On the other hand, ‘Da Vinci Code’ is as much a private contrivance of Dan Brown as is the American movie ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’. Constantine, a pagan formerly, actually reshaped the entire Christendom outlook nearly four centuries after Christ. It was an attempt to cleanse Bible off the so-called blemish. It tried to portray Christ as a bachelor - an immortal, son of God, revered for harvesting no common man’s needs or desires. So does the Vatican. Last Supper is a 15th century Leonardo epic – once again a nudging gesture to old pagans. Church would not allow a contest between St. Peter & Lady Mary Magdalene lest feminism should prevail. The dagger, the disgruntled apostles, odd number of hands, the cup and the backdrop – it’s all a 15th century contraption of a person who was born in Italy and died in France. His Vitruvian Man is far more allusive than the Last Supper nonetheless. How true indeed Holy Quran is, SubhanAllah – a direct word of Allah Subhan w’Taala. No new or old testaments or versions. No fiddling of come what nature, Alhamdolillah. No keystones or codes or disparity – simple and justly comprehensible. We as Muslims believe Jesus Christ (PBUH) was a mortal. And we do not need to market bestsellers to cast value to theories with a view to nurture faith.
