Amirakadal will be a greater beneficiary of PDP’s developmental agenda: Altaf Bukhari Appeals the people to cast vote in his favour on December 14 Srinagar, Dec 12: Appealing the people of Amirakadal constituency to vote wholeheartedly for him, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and the party candidate for Amirakadal constituency Syed Altaf Bukhari on Friday said the time has come when the electorate of Amirakadal will have to script a new chapter by becoming a part of PDP’s developmental agenda on December 14. Addressing an impressive public convention at Chinar Bagh-Lal Chowk on the last day of campaigning in the constituency, Bukhari said in past the people of Amirakadal had voted National Conference but the party could not bring about any change in their living. “Amirakadal like the other constituencies of district Srinagar continues to face huge development deficit in construction of roads, health care, education, power, recreation and all other sectors. I need your support to change this dismal developmental scenario of Amirakadal which has been neglected to the hilt by the National Conference,” Bukhari appealed. He said the PDP needs to be given a change to serve in Amirakadal on the strength of its performance during its brief tenure in the government between 2002 and 2005. “The development that was carried by the PDP under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Jammu and Kashmir is there for everybody to analyze. However, PDP’s visionary agenda for the whole state especially for Srinagar is yet to be finished. I assure you that Amirakadal which is heart of the City will be a greater beneficiary of that developmental plan and you will witness a plausible change in every sector concerning you once the PDP comes to power,” Bukhari stressed. He said that people of Amirakadal are politically mature and updated enough to distinguish between the hollow sloganeering of National Conference and the performance exhibited by the PDP in just three years of its governance. “I know there is a lot to be done. National Conference that claims to be concerned for Srinagar did nothing for the city during its six-year-rule and instead preferred to get benefitted through rampant corruption, mis-governance and the large scale loot,” Bukhari observed. He said National Conference led government left thousands of people in the city particularly the worst hit Amirakadal constituency to die in recent floods. “Due to grace of Allah people of my constituency survived without any help from the National Conference led government. However, the flood hit families of Amirakadal constituency are yet to get any solid relief. They have been left to live their lives in sub zero temperature in tents without the government bothering about their plight. This official apathy has to be changed and it can be changed only when you decide to come out to vote for PDP on December 14,” Bukhari appealed. He said Amirakadal constituency particularly its newly emerged colonies are currently facing tough challenges of developmental deficit, lack of drainage system, shortage of electricity, poor road network, sub standard healthcare facilities, frequent traffic snarls, lack of recreational facilities and host of other issues which have been further aggravated by the last six years misrule and corruption under National Conference led government. “It is the PDP only which has a comprehensive plan and vision to address these issues. Your support is crucial for us at this point of time to allow us to take this constituency forward and rewrite a new chapter in its history, Bukhari told the convention. The PDP candidate for Amirakadal constituency said the last three phases of elections have explicitly indicated that people of the state have realized that NC only exploited them and did practically nothing. “The significantly increasing faith of the people of Amirakadal constituency in PDP will Insha Allah get further strengthened on December 14 polls when you will come out along with your families to cast your vote in my favour,” he remarked. On this occasion PDP senior leader and former minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir also addressed the convention. In his address, Mir said that the last three phases of elections have established that PDP will form a government on its own. “Now the people of Srinagar who have started realizing that they were neglected by the National Conference in last over three decades have to become part of this change. On December 14, people of Amirakdal have to decide whether they want to reel under perpetual darkness or want to start a new beginning by support the PDP. It is upto the people of Amirakadal whether they want live under constant insecurity about their youth or want them to flourish and touch skies under PDP government,” he observed. Besides Bukhari and Mir, the convention was also addressed by Abdul Hamid Kosheen, party’s state coordinator, Haji Parvez Ahmad party’s district coordinator, Anjum Fazili, state coordinator women’s wing, Jeela Rafiqi, coordinator women’s wing Kashmir province, Shuja Sarwar, party’s youth general secretary and various other leaders.
