Amma and the lunchbox It was about 7:30 am yesterday. Dad was not at home. Sister was getting ready to leave for her college. As I had come home, I decided to drop her at the bus stop and was waiting. Meanwhile, what was She doing? (She: Amma). Getting my sisters lunch box ready. All of a sudden, my mind rolled back by a decade. During our school days, by around 8:20am, the 3 kids in the family would be busy searching for the books and notebooks for the day, dad getting his bajaj Kawasaki ready as it would reveal all sorts of problems only when leaving to school. But this lady would be focused only on our lunchboxes, packing it beautifully and wiping its outer side with a clean towel. She would not give up until she gets satisfied. On our way to the school,we would curse her, fearing our going late to school for which we would be punished. Now, even after 10 long years, She has not changed a bit, with the same care and attention to the lunchbox. Her only motive is good hygienic food for her children. There is absolutely no compromise. But we, now grown ups, have understood Her after starting to live away from Her. I personally feel that the way in which a mother packs and sends a lunch box reveals her love for the child irrespective of what is inside it. Just felt like sharing!
