Among my fond memories of being a kid at Municipal Stadium was making a friend of longtime As and Royals organist, Harry Jenks. Harry was a well known jazz musician in the city and well known in music circles. I went to all the games (being an ushers kid), and knew every nook and cranny of the stadium, along with all the employees. Harry Jenks and the organ sat behind home plate in the lower deck, and Harry always let me sit in the wooden organ booth to talk baseball. He was a master at playing songs between innings, along with the national anthem, the charge tune and that organ music that I can still remember as it triggers the feel of baseball. Harry was a great gentleman, and I thank him for the memories.
