Among the very early arrivals was Dr. H.C. Way. He came in before Christmas of 1895 and opened a drug store on Creek street. He had a bountiful amount of optimism and cheerfulness, and cause as near as any one having the friendship of all, unless it was the ubiquitous coon hound and sofka, who with Jim Northrops hogs, tried to makethe budding village the flea center of the universe. Doc kept bisulphate of carbon by the barrel, and when a flea laden canine tarried at the pill emprioum a howling streak through the street informed the villagers that the doctor was on duty and was preforming. Docs cheerfulness still breaks out at times, especially so on Blazer night, when the old nesters get together in love feast. He is a large property owner in the place, but it is suggested that he likes the old times better.
