Amusement Park or Aquarium When was the last time you were in - TopicsExpress

Amusement Park or Aquarium When was the last time you were in awe of God? Speechless. Amazed. Captivated. There is a common trend in Christianity that seeks to be impressed instead of awestruck. Its as though worship gatherings, events, and conferences have become amusement parks and after we get done with one we evaluate them like a thrill ride. If it was fun enough, cool enough, and fast enough we leave impressed. We leave raving about the way it made us feel and the way it was unlike any other ride. What if worship was less of a amusement park and more like an aquarium. I dont go to an aquarium to get an adrenaline rush, but to be amazed. Im there to stand back and observe. Im not in a hurry, because I want to take a long look at what is there. Could it be that when we take a long look at Jesus we will stop trying to be impressed and start standing in awe? When you leave a worship gathering are you more prone to talk more about the cool experience or your Divine encounter. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. (Acts 2:43 NLT) What produced this awe of God? Seeing God at work in powerful ways and intentional devotion to growing in their faith. Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all. All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper ), and to prayer.
