Amyotha Hluttaw continues its seventh day session Nay Pyi Taw, 23 Sept The seventh day of 11th Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House) was held here on Tuesday. U Thaw Zin Oo, representative of No. 9 constituency in Magway Region asked if the Kaindayar road which is being blocked with brick wall of Pakokku General Hospital compound will be opened to the public. Union health minister Dr Than Aung said that the Pakokku General Hospital was established in 1915, that as the number of in-patients has increased and the facility needs to be expanded, and that the Kaindayar road, 50-foot wide and 472-foot long, with a total area of 0.546 acre was demarcated for the compound of the hospital. The Union minister also said that a three-storey building was constructed for a dormitory of nursing students in the 2013-2014 fiscal year, and a four-storey building of staff quarter is under construction,and that there is no plan to reopen the road for the need of public sector. Dr Myat Nyana Soe, representative of No.4 constituency of Yangon region, asked if the government has plans to compensate the victims and for the loss of property due to the danger of electricity distribution and if effective preventive measures against short circuit will be made. U Aung Than Oo, deputy minister for Electric Power answered that distribution for 1 megawatt (1,000 kilowatt) electricity will cost US$ 1 million (K1 billion). The deputy minister also said that the cost for one mile of power line coated with insulator will cost from K558 million to K930 million. He pointed out the expense will be high and take times to develop power distribution facilities which have been outdated nearly 50 years. U Aung Than Oo said that the ministry is giving out compensation to the victims and for the loss of property from the social welfare funds of ministry and budget received from selling electricity. He also confirmed that the ministry will equip its staff members with safety equipment, while actions are being taken to those who breach disciplinary rules. He also pledged to set up more updated infrastructure when the ministry received sufficient budget both for the people and for the staff. Dr Myat Nyana Soe also read out the 2013 bill concerned with helping injured persons with immediate medical treatment, which was amended by Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House). MNA
