An About Ebola app - TopicsExpress

An About Ebola app (https://play.google/store/apps/details?id=cc.snapp.aboutebola) was created for Android in English, French, Swahili, Wolof and Jola. As MSFs Director Operations said, Ebola now has to be viewed as a public health issue throughout West Africa. WHO called an 11-nation meeting to raise the awareness. Now we must all raise the awareness. I am very troubled. I spoke to one of my peekin in Liberia today and tried to warn him about the Ebola virus and he was emphatic that For us in Monrovia we have not seen an Ebola picture or an Ebola dead body. They have not shown any body on TV. I havent seen or heard about any dead body at JFK. Im advising him about not shaking hands, avoiding fluids from others, etc. and hes laughing at me. THIS IS SERIOUS!!! Many in Liberia do not believe Ebola is there. The creators of the About Ebola app are planning to release a 2nd version with more regional languages. They need help translating the 1,200 words of content adapted from WHO and CDC materials into Liberian English, Krio and local langauges in the Mano River region. If youre keen to volunteer, please contact eliecalhoun@gmail / taste@africanepicure. If you participate, your name or organization will be listed as a volunteer in the credits section in the app.
