An African man from Gambia-believed to be Muslim- has appeared in court charged with raping a girl in a Dewsbury park. Amadou Bojang, 43, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday. He faces two charges of raping a 15-year-old girl in Crow Nest Park. The alleged attack happened between 10pm and midnight on Friday September 6th. Magistrates heard no details of the charge during the brief hearing. Bojang, who gave the court a care-of address of School Lane in Dewsbury, was remanded in custody. His solicitor Sarah Stewart told magistrates that it was currently impractical for him to make a bail application. Bojang’s case was sent to Leeds Crown Court, where he will first appear on September 24. -C-
