An Answer To Jesus didnt die... Thanks. We, Catholic-Christians, too believe that Jesus is very much alive today. BUT as for your view that JESUS DID not DIE , both super-natural and natural evidences show otherwise. SUPER-NATURAL EVIDENCE: Hundreds of years before the human incarnation of God as man in Jesus Christ, Scripture have already mentioned the main points of his life including his death on the cross. To mention but a few : 1. Fom a Psalm 22:6 of the prophet David (Daud): ...a company of evildoers encircle me; they have pierced my hands and feet.. This is probably the most astounding prediction within this prophecy. Crucifixion was not practiced by the Jews of Davids time. Their religious laws demanded that criminals condemned to die be stoned to death. But God showed His prophet, David, how the Messiah would die 10 centuries later, executed at the hands of an empire that did not even exist in Davids day--Rome--whose principal means of executing criminals was crucifixion. 2.Prophet Isaiah 53:5, hundreds of years before Jesus was born: “We are healed by the punishment He suffered, made whole by the blows He received.” 3.After Jesus resurrection FROM THE DEAD he said to the disciples, How foolish you are and how slow to believe all that the prophets have said! Did not the Christ have to suffer thus before entering upon his glory?” And he began with Moses and all the prophets and explained to them the passages all through the Scriptures that referred to himself. (cf., Luke 24:25-27) *(More details are available to anyone,on request, as they are too long to be include here ) NATURAL EVIDENCE: Historical evidences from both contemporay Christian and non-Christian sources say otherwise: Contemporary Christian sources (especially the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and the rest of the New Testament of the Bible which were written within 70 years after the death of Jesus by crucifixion, when many who witnessed the event of Jesus death on the cross were still alive) testified to the death of Jesus by crucifixion... ....and could be cross-referenced to the many contemporary non-Christian documents of the Romans, Jews, etc., who are not particularly friendly to Christiains. None of the contemporaries, the people living at the time of Jesus, both friends or foes, disputed the fact of his death and crucifxion as recorded in the gospels. Why? Because they had actually witnessed the event. The mistaken notion that Jesus did not die on the Cross came only hudreds of years later from writings of people who had not actually lived in the time of Jesus and actually seen him died. By that time,of course, one could almost say anything about Jesus crucifixion and death as there were no more living witnesses to the event to dispute the facts, or cross referenced to, unlike the aforesaid gospels. To me, the more plausible, rational and honest view is : Jesus did die from crucifixion on the cross. It is a historical fact. NOTE: Historical data and details close to the time of Jesus including those from the non-Christian, secular Roman and Jewish sources, etc. are too many to be quoted here, but you should be able to find them in websites like: y-jesus, catholic, ewtn, etc. Here are but two examples of such cross-references from non-Christian sources: - Cornelius Tacitus, a Roman historian who wrote less than a hundred years after Jesus crucifixion. ... Tacitus mentions Christ‘s death while describing Nero‘s persecution of Christians in about 64 A.D. : The one from whom this name originated, Christ, had been executed during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of the procurator, Pontius Pilate. - A Samaritan historian, Thallus, writing in about 52 A.D.,just about twenty years or less after Jesus crucifixion, even mentioned the darkness at the time of Christ‘s crucifixion which could be cross referenced to Gospel of Matthew Chapter 27, verse 45,... )
