An Experience With a Life Coach at a Public Event. I met a Life Coach recently at a business networking event. After some casual introduction, she started asking me coaching language questions to prospect me. I responded to her question by asking her another question to get clarity on her area of niche as a life coach as she was saying she can coach people in all and any areas of life. She couldnt answer me and instead said, Everyone needs life coaching. I asked, What experience have you had, that led you to believe everyone needs life coaching? Have you met all 7+ billion people on this planet to come to that conclusion? She said: Of course no! I asked jokingly: Then, what makes you assumed everyone have a need for life coaching? I need air, water, food, shelter but I dont need life coaching to live. Can you elaborate? She took her bag and walked away with daggers in her eyes. Dear Life Coaches, what I feel like saying is, before you prospect your Clients, please get to know them as a person. Get permission from them before you asked them coaching questions at a public event. Best is to ask them questions that makes your Prospect curious about your business and then meet them separately to get to know them better. Learn to give value first and build trust. Once rapport and trust is established, always asked for permission before you engaged in coaching questions. Thats what I feel like saying.
