“An Idle man is the devils workshop What an average Akwa Ibom youth wants from the incoming Administration? In my opinion, I think an average young man will like to live a decent life so also will an Akwa Ibom young man. Let me suggest the way forward for the next Administration in Akwa Ibom State; Set up industries with employment ability of about 10,000 people in each of the 3 Senatorial Districts in Akwa Ibom State. 1. By implication, government would have had 30,000 people gainfully employed 2. At least 75% of the employed people will be youngmen 3. From the 75% youngmen, at least 30% will be bouyant enough to plan getting married, this will help reduce the population of young women in the streets. 4. At least 25% of these youngmen have dependents who they can help in one form or the other either by way of sending them to school or supporting their learning trade to be self-reliant in the future. 5. Those actively working will have less time to spend in joint to discuss evil because one will be preparing for work the next day. 6. Once one is married, he also supports his wife’s family, this gesture somehow help to extend assistance to the wife family. 7. Insecurity will be drastically reduced and people will feel safe. 8. Income will be re-distributed across all other economics outlets as people have money to spend. Neglecting this at the expense of further developing Akwa Ibom one-sidedly will mean perpetually enslaving the people in the name of governance. Government has to first prepare its citizen by way of empowering them to embrace other provided infrastructure. Of course, investors will not come and invest for poor people but in places where the people have the bargaining power for such investment. It makes more sense when government have her citizens contributing to the development by paying income task back to help sustain social infrastructural improvement.
