An Interesting discussion on Murphi Kennedys page. I guess #SNL did a skit mocking DJs. From what I see, EDM is finally taking the same hit that EVERY commodity suffers from once it hits the mainstream... it loses the purity and realness. Weve seen it happen all the time, from rich, suburban kids Crip walking or using St. Louis Country Grammar slang, all the way to the skinny jeans movement (used first in the skateboard culture) becoming main stream... The originators of are like man, that was our little thing now every one is doing it and its not cool anymore. Just like Andre 3000 said: Hollywood divorce, All the fresh styles always start off as a good little neighborhood thing. Look at blues, rock, jazz, rap, Not even just talkin about music, Everything else too, By the time it reaches Hollywood, its over. But its cool, We just keep it goin and make new ish... Why did EDM purists think their genre would be different? Once Mainstream takes the reigns of anything, whether its Hip Hop, EDM or a small business that goes public, corruption and loss of purity of the original craft is #bound2 happen... because thats what the world wants to glorify and buy.
