An Ol Farm Boys Diary 06-28-14 The old McGlynn farm buggy in its later years had been reduced to mere entertainment for my Uncles and their cousins on the farm during the1940s. It was eventually parked in the tree row East of the farm house when the old wooden wheels spokes started breaking. There it remained but was still great entertainment for the next generation, many grand kids would play on it in the 1960s and 70s until the wheels finally fell off and the wood rotted away. When I was cleaning up the tree row in the late 90s, I came across what was left of the buggy (not much) only some springs, wheel rims and the spring board AND the carriage cast iron steps. I unbolted them from what was left of a rusted brace thinking, someday I may find a use for these. Well the day has ARRIVED, I decided (as I prep the ol John Deere Model R manure wagon for the Sterling Fourth of July parade) that the old wagon could use a good pair of carriage steps this year, as the all the cousins (and my wife) climb aboard for the parade. I call it, being a sentimental ol guy. I think my wife calls it, having a sentamentillness? below are pics of the transformation/recycle project.
