An Open Letter to Constantine Maroulis: Mr. Maroulis, I’m writing you not in defense of my beautiful friend, Mrs. Patty Barbera, but in response to the photograph you posted of her impaired, crumpled body at the foot of the stairs, for a laugh. By posting this picture, you did not succeed in diminishing her. Patty was so excited to see your show, she forgot to eat. She made a mistake. A mistake is forgivable. For all of us who know Patty, we shall continue to love her and respect her, and once she recovers, her life and ours will continue as usual. What you need to understand, however, is that by posting this picture, you diminished yourself. The measure of a man is calibrated by the way in which he protects those who are weaker than himself. You used my friend’s mistake to aggrandize yourself, yet, managed to show your adoring fans, quite publicly, the kind of mettle you’re made of. I do not hate you, Mr. Maroulis. You don’t mean anything to me. Frankly, I pity you. Feel free to block me. You have nothing to say or post that has, or will be of any value to me in the future. Best, One of Patty’s clowns.
