An amazing article for the journey of compassion. When homeless people beg us for food or money....those are opportunities to turn towards them and open our hearts. Those feelings of discomfort we experience....are because our hearts are being stretched and challenged to grow. Were looking forward to making winter care kits this evening at 6:30pm after Dignity Houstons liturgy in Room 114 of the Montrose Center (5:30pm). Come one come all and bring hygiene care items and snacks to assemble! Blankets, gloves, and socks to keep warm. Small stocking stuffers to offer holiday cheer. Everything is appreciated! These will be hand delivered to homeless folk on Monday 12/29 with Food Not Bombs - Houston, a community of advocates who feed homeless people at the Downtown Library Courtyard every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Bring vegan food or just bring yourself! Thank you Jerry Monroe Maynard for helping to organize this and having such a big heart for homeless people. Who else is in for this labor of love?
