An anonymous Leaky asks: Lately my breastfeeding relationship with my daughter (4mo) has seemed to not be going well and I am so sad about it! This happens almost every time I breastfeed her: She latches on and nurses then pulls off and cries (not a screaming cry but still crying). Then I try to get her back on (sometimes successful, sometimes not) and when it is successful, she will nurse and then pull off and cry. Then I switch her to the other side where she will nurse and then pull off and cry. So, by this point, when she pulls off and cries I can give her her pacifier for a few seconds, take it out, put her back on and then she will nurse again for a bit and then pull off an cry! So we do the switching of the breast and pacifier for a while. Sometimes I will burp her thinking maybe she has a tummy full of air, but then she really starts crying! Then I know when she is full or done nursing when she is just quiet, sits on the breast and does nothing, or starts smiling or acting happy/talking, or doesnt cry when I burp her! I know when she is latched on that she is getting milk cause I can see her and hear her drinking! I dont think it is because of a strong letdown because this happens the entire time I am feeding her. I am starting to feel desperate and a little depressed at the thought of maybe she just doesnt want to nurse but does anyway cause I force her to. I am a working mom and she gets a bottle at the babysitters but it is a slow flow nipple and my husband tells me she does the same type of thing when the bottle gets taken away from her mouth. Please help!! Thank you!!
