An anonymous parent writes: Ever since I can remember, my daughter has been resistant to any activity in our daily schedule that is not her idea. This makes it particularly difficult to set up any predictable Homeschooling routine. I constantly have to switch it up and even then resort to taking away her favorite things just to get her to cooperate. With Math, I have chosen a program that requires scaffolding and mini reviews of previously learning concepts. To show me how bored she is with the warm-ups, she will add a /w/ sound after every beginning consonant of each word she speaks, or reply with her toes. How many of you have actually succeeded with a very consistent homeschool routine with your gifted child? I have to tell myself every morning that I can handle the resistance to the daily schedule. She is 8. Will it get easier? I would love to announce to her that it is time for Math and she would smile and come sit down with me. I have visions of it working that way and I often think everybody elses day must look like that, but mine.
