The proposed budget for the new Westside bus service is $100,000 a year, not $140,000. Half of that is covered by our allocation of federal transportation dollars so only $50,000 in local tax dollars. The primary need is to serve our transit dependent community members - lower income and disabled - who need to commute to the Westside for employment and shopping. The second is to serve those who live on the Westside. Other than that reasonably accurate. The addition of this route is by far the number one requested transit service improvement from our community members. Hope it passes! (The Republic posted it as $140,000) CM56
