An autopsy found that the 83-year-old woman died of accidental drowning. Her body was found in her 25th Avenue S.W. apartment on Sunday afternoon. She remains the lone flood-related fatality in the city. The elderly woman, whom police will not identify, WAS CALLED Thursday at 7 p.m. Police informed her of the mandatory evacuation of the Mission neighbourhood. “All indications are that the woman was going to comply with the evacuation order,” said deputy Chief Roger Chaffin Wednesday. “My understanding is that the apartment was ground level and it had taken on water from the floods,” said Chaffin. Police say they would have offered the woman help to leave, but there was nothing indicating she would have had mobility issues.
