CATS=$10 per day CATS 5 days=$7 per day We are not a kennel situation. Animals are not kept in cages and walked a few times a day. Animals all get out to play outside or inside lose with other dogs. And a human is ALWAYS with the animals unless night time. The only time animals are not with other animals is when eating, or sleeping. If you need a kennel situation where the animal needs isolation or specific walks on leashes, the price may increase. *Former Pet Connection are privy to special pricing. Vaccines are designed to help your animal build up an immunity to certain viruses. It does not mean that the animal will never get those viruses, but it means if they do get it, it will not be as severe as it would had they not gotten the shots. What is kennel cough? Kennel cough is a VERY common virus (like a human cold) that dogs will actually get a few times in their life. It can give them runny eyes and coughing. Dogs will most likely get this and because it runs its course owners didnt even notice it, BUT when the virus is mixed with a bacteria it can turn in to something much more serious, like a pneumonia or worse. We can not vaccinate against both, which is why when we vaccinate against the virus part of it. Kennel cough is nothing to be overly concerned about, but if the animal starts to not eat, diahrea, vomit...then it is time to get antibiotics. More often than not, this does not happen and the dog will get over it on its own. It is very common for dogs to show signs of kennel cough after receiving their vaccine. *This is true for all shots. Animals can still get viruses that they are vaccinated against, however, getting the shots helps make sure the virus does not become a serious or life threatening affliction. -Why is Kennel Cough so common in daycares and kennels? Anytime you have numerous animals playing together, you will see certain viruses more often, especially ones as common to dogs, like Kennel Cough, which is as common to dogs as the cold is to humans. -Why do you demand that the animals have their shots if they can still get the viruses? Because getting the shots helps make sure common viruses that animals can give to each other do not turn in to a much more serious and life threatening illness. All animals can be carriers of lots of things, but if another animal comes in contact with it and is vaccinated the chances of it becoming life threatening are fewer. We, however, still take precautions and if any signs of any common viruses are present, your animal will be isolated to avoid the contagion to others. Us demanding the shots is to not only help make sure your animal doesnt become too ill with common illnesses but to also protect others who may have weakened immune systems. -Could my animal get fleas if I bring him to day care? YES they could if they are not protected against them. We do not demand to see proof of flea protection, but the animals are with other animals and are playing outside where fleas live. If you do not protect your animal before bringing him to day care then YES, he could very well get fleas. Mind you if you dont protect your animal against fleas, he could get them from your walks or even from you after visiting someone who has animals with fleas. -Could my animal get in to a fight with other dogs?YES. When dogs play there can be squabbles, but our day care workers are trained and always with the animals so the chances of it not being stopped before it erupts or it turning in to a big fight where someone gets hurt, are slim. Animals only play with other animals they get along with. -Could my animal get gross stuff from other animals? YES. We demand that all animal have their shots to protect them against common harmful viruses, but animals can have numerous afflictions: worms, gastros.........If a dog has worms or parasites and it licks another dog, it can communicate those parasites. -Is it normal that my dog act lethargic and tired after day care? YES. It would be wise practice to offer your dog a fresh cold bowl of water when he comes home from day care and expect him to go and lay down and have a very sound sleep. When animals are all together and playing they may not think of drinking as often as they should, although fresh water is always readily available to your animal. In most cases, your animal will have gotten much more exercise with us than it would at home during a day so making sure your animal is well hydrated at night after a full day of playing is recommended. *When animals, like children, are together and playing they can give each other little things. Animals can be carriers of many things that may not affect them, but would affect another. But, these common afflictions are easily treated. So while it seems a bit scary to leave your animal in a place where they are free to play and have fun together, there are things parents need to be aware of. Dogs are naturally social animals and need to be around other dogs to learn from and associate with. An aware and responsible owner makes for a happier dog.
