An awesome day, with many memories. Here are a few: I met Khalid Saleem, and worked for Garth Fagan while at U of R, when he was creating Griot New York (I had no idea who he was, and hung up on him my first day).... I also met Alice Berry, and Ziapo Ula (From De Ivory Coast), Wyneshia, Sophia, and Gora helped me learn SOKO. I was first introduced to Elizabeth Streb watching Sunday Morning, when I shot hooky from church, while at U of R. And this one, song included. When Jackie Sleight held her LA Underground convention in Flint my Senior year in high school, I was cut by mistake from the big audition by mistake, after making it through the ballet portion. my brother spotted Keith Diorio walking around as if he was looking for something, and suggested that I asked why I got cut. So I went over to him, and he said, Ive been looking for you. Get out there and learn the sequence. Then Jackie announced that sometimes they make mistakes and have to bring a dancer back. I had to learn the entire thing basically by watching and the few times they went over it. They put me in the last group, but I had trouble with one turn, which threw off my timing a the end. Just a millisecond behind the group, And he fought for me. However, I ended up getting cut. And the day before got a Talking to, by Jackie when I didnt go up on stage and dance with her during class because when she pointed at me, I thought she was pointing to the white girl behind me, because that heffa started screaming and ran up on stage.
