An early morning last week, as I sat to enjoy some free air before drawing up My Schedule for that fateful Lecture-Free day, I saw half a dozen of women coming from a path nearby My Hostel. They seem to be complaining about a common cause and You know Women, surely, they did with high voice, so I could hear things like Se won fe pawa ni!(do they wish to kill us!), Kosi Owo nta fa!(There is no Money in circulation), one Woman shouted E woo, Emi o kawon Omo mi kuro ni Ile Iwe Olowo! Boya kan man lo tijoba!(Look! Id withdraw My Children away from Private School, Perhaps they change to Public Schools). Prior to that Moment, Daddy Toheeb(a close neighbour) had already passed where I sat, He went straight to the path of the well which is some metres away from My Hostel, I didnt look at His navigation for long as I wasnt actually outside to study his movement. He returned not quite long and He walked hurriedly to his Home(the immediate block behind My Hostel)but I was so disturbed to see Him again and again as He had made oscillating movement back and forth his house and the path of the Well. Suddenly, He turned to Me with a very worried face and said Alfa, se e rawon tisa yi? A o ti ri Owo awon Omo san, won si ti n ranse pe kawa mawon Omo wa. Laye towo won nta yi(Alfa,- word used for Islamic clergy man, although Im not yet qualified to that- can You imagine these teachers? We are yet to pay the school bills of our children, yet they have sent message to us to come and take them away. In the current world of financial trouble). I couldnt say a word till He swiftly paced towards his house. I believe this scenario is rampant, not only here in Ogbomoso, but just everywhere in this Country. Its no news that the Nigeria economy isnt flambouyant enough to get Her Citizens enough financial muscle that they require to satisfy their basic, let alone advanced needs, so I believe cases like this hinges on the poor state of economy. No responsible parent would wish to let his/her ward(s) get disturbed and or disgraced while studying just because they, the parents have failed to pay the bills of this young child(ren). It is incumbent on our various Proprietors, Proprietresses, Headmasters, Headmistresses, Principals, Vice-Principals, Bursars, Our various Teachers, even the gatekeepers and other involved persons to show some leniency to those Children and Parents who are yet to pay one of their bills or the other. No doubt about it, the school is your stake, Ma/Sir, but at least We all know what Nigeria is saying. We might not all be able to go to Abuja and occupy Aso Villa, Me might still be handicapped from gaining the Powers of Our States too before making the positive changes We have all wanted but at least, here is lifeline for us to make some positive impacts. Lets always recall that the smallest unit of Society is the Family, the positive changes start from here and not the Government. Nigeria shall be free from worries and be great again! In Shaa ALLAH(by GODs permission), Ameen.
