An email from Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressis mother: Dear Rick, I wish I was emailing you right now with better news. Andrews first court hearing was yesterday afternoon and the judge did not set him free. Instead, after hearing Andrews retelling of that fateful wrong turn into Mexico, the judge set an additional court date for August. I have been told this may just be the first of many court dates to come. Rick, I am absolutely devastated but I am trying to stay strong for Andrew. I hope you will stand with me in praying for him and his safety. And to make matters worse, waiting another month for the next court date means the legal bills will continue to pile up. I have barely been able to sleep since he was taken prisoner on March 31st, and it is the support, kind words, and prayers from people like yourself that has gotten me this far. We have to keep Andrews story in the news. We cannot let Andrew be forgotten. Please tell your friends and family about Andrews story. Even though thousands have signed the petition on the White House website,President Obama has yet to take any action to help get Andrew released. From where we sit, the executive branch has totally abandoned him I will not abandon him, but Rick, Im just a mom from Florida. Im not a diplomat, or an international lawyer, or a strong Marine like my son. I need help to get Andrew out of jail and to bring him home and for that Im going to need to hire talented lawyers...lawyers that I cant afford and that our government isnt willing to provide. I am so fortunate to have friends who have helped me set up the Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi Liberty Fund. I hate asking for financial donation as I know bills at home are tight with every family, but any amount you can afford will go immediately towards defraying the nearly insurmountable costs Andrew is facing.
