An exchange I thought Id share w you, my lovely ppl. Name not divulged for privacy reasons: Jan 12th, 10:41pm A quick story, and question.....when I was a little kid back in the 80s, I was up late sneaking into the tv room, and stumbled upon Bad Boys on the channel 6 Million Dollar Movie. It was probably after midnight, and I was probably around 10 or 11 years old. That movie captivated me, and scared the living shit out of me. I did not know the title, but once in a blue moon I would stumble upon it on television, and it never stopped having the same effect. As I got older, I obviously learned all about the movie, and to this day it stands as one of my absolute favorites, and one that I would hope that you are very proud to have been a part of. I work as a 6th grade public school teacher in Perth Amboy, New Jersy. My student population is 95 percent Puerto Rican, and Dominican. When I taught 8th grade, there were certain students that I suggested Bad Boys to, and it blew some of their minds. I would like to humbly ask if you would be willing to take a minute out of your busy schedule to to offer some insight, or stories about your experiences working on that movie. Any information you could share would be beyond greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work. __________________________________________________ Sent by Esai Morales Jan 14th, 2:41pm Ty, (name withheld). The experience was great one for me and Im glad it had the intended effect upon you and many others who also appreciated our efforts, and avoided a sorry life of crime in the process. I was a lucky but hard working kid who auditioned for the part despite feeling that there were other, more intimidating and bigger bad-asses than myself there. I left the before the audition in a haze of insecurity and as I waited for the elevator I looked at the down button I had just pressed and it reminded me of where I was literally and figuratively headed. Pissed off at my weakness I decided to go back and rip it up as an audition and not waste my time. I took a take-no-prisoners attitude, walked in and gave it my best. I never looked back and I didnt think about it anymore until my agent called about a month later to say I was their first choice as they checked for my availability. The take away for me was that as long as I kept my focus on the task at hand and didnt let the difficulty of the challenge discourage me all I could do was my best and move on. The act is ours, the consequences are for the universe to work out. I always strive to not blame others but to get better at whatever I had to do to succeed.
