An important thought for today... I am not out to be todays kill joy or party pooper... But let me just throw this out there... Many of you are entering into the fun and games of Halloween ... I know, some mask it by labeling it a harvest party. Label it what you like... I recall an old saying, you can put lipstick on a pig, but its still going to be a pig! Consider this; Since the latter 20th century, Celtic neopagans and Wiccans have observed Samhain, or something based on it, as a religious holiday, when is this observed? Oh, why October 31st! Now, you can deny any connections or affiliation... But let us look just a bit deeper... In the 9th century, the Roman Catholic Church shifted the date of All Saints Day to 1 November, while 2 November later became All Souls Day. Over time, Samhain and All Saints/All Souls merged and helped to create the modern Halloween... A little history lesson... Okay, I have said all that to say this... If while entertaining this pagan holiday, and dancing on the fringe of the fence... What if today is the day our Lord returns? Any one recall the activities Moses found when he came down with the Ten Commandments in hand? The scripture says in Exodus 34:13 You shall tear down their altars, and break their pillars, and cut down their Asherim 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), Okay, I shall step down from my soap box... And suggest this, what do you want to be doing when The Lord returns? Mathew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. One last verse: 2 Corinthians 6:15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, I am speaking only to those who profess to be followers of Christ, just pray as an ambassador of Christ, and know who you are, and who you represent!
