Our goal is to reach an agreement as quickly as possible so KOMU 8 can return to the DirecTV channel line-up. We are eager to conclude a fair deal with DirecTV because we understand that this issue is important to you. We share your frustration as these negotiations drag on. YOU SHOULD KNOW–These negotiations, over so-called “carriage rights,” are common in the television industry. When things go well (as they have with DirecTV in the past), these issues are resolved behind the scenes. When things don’t go well, KOMU 8 viewers who are DirecTV subscribers are affected. DirecTV subscribers will recall that in recent months, the local ABC and FOX affiliates had their programming similarly interrupted because of negotiations involving DirecTV.
