An important update on the status of our ongoing negotiations with DirecTV: 11 DAYS AND COUNTING: KOMU 8 made its most recent offer on April 25th DirecTV HAS YET TO RESPOND. We share your frustration as these negotiations drag on. We are eager to conclude a fair deal with DirecTV because we understand that this issue is important to you. Our goal is to reach an agreement as quickly as possible so KOMU 8 can return to the DirecTV channel line-up. YOU SHOULD KNOW– DirecTV complains that KOMU 8 is seeking five times the rate they currently pay. There is more to the story: Those current rates were negotiated 4 years ago. Prices for programming and production continue to rise. Additionally, the terms we request are well within accepted industry and market value for our channels. To put this in perspective, local broadcasters are paid pennies in comparison to the dollars paid to lesser-watched cable channels. To learn more please go to (npr.org/blogs/money/2013/09/27/226499294/the-most-and-least-expensive-cable-channels-in-1-graph). It’s odd that DirecTV is threatening a price increase to its customers and blaming it on local broadcasters despite generating billions in revenue (see for yourself: investor.directv/press-releases/press-release-details/2014/DIRECTV-Announces-Fourth-Quarter-and-Full-Year-2013-Results/default.aspx). Please contact DirecTV and let them know this is important to you. Call DirecTV at (800) 531-5000 or go to DirecTV or facebook/directv
