An independent developer in the Netherlands apparently went and complained to 4chan that I caused people to call someones boss to get them fired because they said something racist. They also pointed out I am a practicing Muslim for some absurd reason. Id like to deny that I have any direct involvement in that, but since the Netherlands are very close to my heart, Ill elaborate and extend an invitation for conversation to the person making that claim. Id also like to add that Im very confused at that allegation: if youre indie, do you have a boss? If someone else calls someones boss, how is that my fault (also please dont do that)? If someone said something racist, arent they supposed to be held accountable? If youre the person that got fired, let me know and Ill see how I can help out. If youre the person upset at this, Ive got no clue how to help but please reach out anyway. Everybody is born with prejudices and the like, and I dont think making *a* mistake warrants any permanent impact on your life. Making such mistakes repeatedly or in lieu of people explaining to you why its problematic is a different story, but Ive only run into that twice in my entire career and in both cases my involvement was aimed at improving policy or curriculum, rather than getting someone fired (and no one got fired - someone losing their job is never a goal). Anyway, if you have any concerns with the way I handle racism against my own people, please just reach out and say hi. I keep all private conversation private.
