An interesting article on the father of modern marketing practices, and why and how it came about. Incidentally, the Gustave Lebon mentioned in the article is the author of The Crowd, a book about mob psychology which I have mentioned before. The fact that people and populations are so susceptible to psychological manipulation is a pet peeve of mine, and one that MUST be conquered if we hope for any kind of rational future for society--otherwise, the marketers and propagandists will rule forever...
