An interesting study on the mantis shrimp was released today. Apparently they dont see the world as some kind of crazy insane rainbow, but instead process color differently from any other animal on the planet in a way that scientists dont fully understand. Theyre also using color to communicate, and they make little rumbling sounds to chat with each other. Im slightly disappointed to hear that a mantis shrimp does not see a thermonuclear bomb of light and beauty, and I wrote in my comic. Perhaps the visual cortex of a mantis shrimp is more like an Einstein-Rosen bridge of lasers and undersea flesh wounds. And I cant help but wonder what spawned all this sudden research into the eyes, brain, and behavior of mantis shrimp over the past year. A goofy little comic, perhaps? I THINK YES. Heres the article: livescience/42797-mantis-shrimp-sees-color.html?cmpid=514636
